My Irish Weekend

Hello everyone! Unfortunately, I have been disgustingly sick since Tuesday, so this weeks post is going to be a bit different. Especially because all I really want to do is go to bed when I should probably be working on my essay that is due in two weeks, sorry mom. I will say that I had an absolutely amazing time in Ireland and I wish I could have spent even more time there!

Thursday

3:00pm – took the train to Gatwick airport with Allie, Ellie, Tash, and a very sick Jonathan.

7:30(ish)pm – arrived in Dublin! Took the bus from the airport to the hostel, Backpackers CitiHostel.

8:00pm – grabbed a delicious dinner at a pub right by the hostel with Jonathan. Got to hear some traditional live Irish music, what a treat!

9:30/10:00pm – went to bed after taking a shower in very cold water, we could not figure out where the sweet spot was for hot water in either of our showers.

Friday

6:55am – arrived at pick up spot for the grand coach tour to the Cliffs of Moher including the Wild Atlantic Way and Galway.

10:30am – arrived at the Cliffs of Moher and spent two hours taking in the incredible views, truly incredible. Plus a coffee to bring some feeling back into the parts that had gotten too cold from the early morning.

1:00-2:40pm – spent most of the bus ride to Galway napping, did make a few stops to see different parts of Ireland and the seaside.

2:40pm-4:40pm – arrived in Galway! Did a quick walking tour and then grabbed a bite at a delicious Mexican place with my new friend Georgina (we met on the bus, she is studying in Madrid and traveled to Ireland all on her own!) Proceeded to do some touristy Ed Sheeran stuff and then went to Murphy’s Ice Cream shop for some deliciously cold stuff before hoping back on the bus to head back to Dublin.

7:30/8:00pm – arrived back in Dublin and met Jonathan for some Italian food, my new friend Georgina came too.

9:00/9:30pm – back to the hostel for some much needed sleep after my early day.

Saturday

11:00am – brunch at Brother Hubbards with the whole group, I got the french toast.

1:00-4:00pm – (brunch lasted awhile) toured the guinness storehouse, which was truly incredible. Though I will say that guinness is not my drink of choice that’s for sure.

4:00-5:30pm – lots of walking.

5:30pm – met up with Jonathan at Trinity College and walked around a bit before going to get pizza.

7:30pm – ate pizza back at the hostel, it was delicious.

8:00pm – in bed reading for a few hours before heading to bed, this trip did indeed have many early nights.

Sunday

10:00am – met up with Georgina to get breakfast at a place called Meet Me in the Morning, which was absolutely delicious and I could have ordered Eggs and Greens for lunch and dinner too!

Rest of the Day: (timeline is kind of choppy if I’m being honest) explored Dublin Castle, a glassblower museum, the national museum of Ireland, the science gallery, and a few bookstores. A fun day that was certainly full of walking, gotta get those steps in!

Monday

10:00am – took myself out to breakfast at a place called Lemon Jelly Cafe, had a delicious crepe and coffee.

11:30-12:30(ish)pm – walked over to the National Leprechaun Museum, which was a really awesome storytelling tour of Irish Folklore and Mythology. I absolutely loved hearing the stories and just walking around the different rooms, a great last experience before heading back to the UK.

1:30pm – arrived at airport and got starbucks because obviously I arrived far too early because I was worried about being late.

6:00/6:30pm – made it back to Guildford safely!

7:00pm – stopped to grab pizza before heading home and going to bed.

Also, Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans! Make sure to eat lots and lots of food for your gal here! Missing the cranberry and green beans so much!

I promise to have a more developed blog post next week, hoping to feel better tomorrow, but I didn’t want to keep you guys waiting for my trip to Ireland any longer!

Cheers,

A Very Sick Kylie
